Saving and Printing Reports

Buttons at the top of a report page enable you to print and save reports.

Save

Save the report to My Saved Reports in HTML format. The saved report will be available to you the whenever you log on to InCites. Note: The Save option is available only for custom reports and Global Comparison reports. Standard reports, such as Summary Metrics and time series reports, do not have a Save option because these reports are always available to you when you log on.

Print

Open a standard Print window and select options for printing.

PDF

Save the report to your hard drive or network in PDF format.

Saving to PDF (Macintosh only)

If you are using a Macintosh, you may experience a problem saving reports in PDF format. Follow these steps to save the report successfully:

  1. On the report page, click the PDF button.
  2. You will see a message notifying you that the file has been saved. Download the file to your hard drive.
  3. The file will be saved to your hard drive with the extension *pdf-1.part. Edit the file name so that the extension is *.pdf.
  4. Now you can open the saved PDF file in Adobe Acrobat.
  5. When you return to the report page in InCites, the report may no longer be active. However, if you return to the Create a Report page, your selections will still be highlighted, and you may generate the report again.

Excel 2007 or Excel 2003

Save the report as an *.xls file to your hard drive or network. A report exported to Excel may contain up to 65,000 rows.

If your browser is Internet Explorer, you may need to modify your security settings for Excel output.

IE version 7.0:

  1. Select Tools/Internet Options.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Click the Local intranet icon.
  4. Click Custom Level.
  5. Set the security level to Medium-low.
  6. Click the Sites button.
  7. Click the Advanced button.
  8. Under Add this website to the zone, copy and paste the URL from the address bar of your browser.

IE version 8.0:

  1. Select Tools/Internet Options.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Click the Internet icon.
  4. Click Custom Level.
  5. Ensure the Automatic prompting for file downloads and File download are enabled.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 for Intranet and Trusted Sites.

CSV

Save the report to My Saved Reports as a UTF-8 encoded text file with comma-separated values. The saved report will be available to you the whenever you log on to InCites. Note: The CSV option is available only for custom reports.

  1. To save the CSV file to your hard drive:
  2. Select Folders/My Saved Reports.
  3. Find the CSV report you want to save to your hard drive.
  4. Click the title of the report to download it.
  5. When the download is complete, locate the report in the download folder on your hard drive. Add the extension *.txt to the filename.
