What's New in Essential Science Indicators?

Current Product Source Dates

The Essential Science Indicators database has been updated as of January 11, 2018, to cover a 10-year plus 10-month period, January 1, 2007 – October 31, 2017. Data is updated bi-monthly (six times a year). This is the fifth bi-monthly period of 2017.

ESI Features

Customers can now easily identify the top institutions in a particular country/region and field. With the addition of each institution's countryregion and an updated filter, customers will save a great deal of time and effort where they previously had to create these lists offline in a spreadsheet.

Essential Science Indicators derive from counts of articles published in journals. Articles are defined as research articles and review articles. Retracted articles are now excluded from article counts. The other document types excluded from article counts are letters to the editor, corrections, and abstracts.
