Journals By Rank

The Journals By Rank page enables you to see the relationships for journals in a selected subject category as well as specific indicators relating to each title, displayed within a customizable table. Enhanced filters permit various user groups to tailor journal relationship visualizations and metric data to suit their needs, helping authors and librarians, as well as publishers. Choose to filter your results by Publisher, Country/Territory, or even Open Access journals.

A network diagram, which can be viewed by clicking Show Visualization, captures the relationships between the journals, with the flow of citation data represented by the thickness of the link between titles and node size indicating the Journal Impact Factor.

Dynamic reporting tools are also included on the Journals by Rank page. If you've signed in with a user name and password, Custom Reports can be created within this page, allowing you the flexibility to save reports based on selections of journals and applied filters. These reports may be accessed at any time, and you have the option to continue to add journals to a preexisting list, or create a new list to fulfill a new set of requirements. You can add journals to a list or create a new list at any time by clicking Add Journals to New or Existing List, found above the ranked list. Further information on creating a journal list can be found here.

You can also choose those journals you'd like to use in either a trend or quartile comparison by checking any titles and then clicking Compare Selected Journals. Once you do you'll be directed to the Compare Journals page and can select the comparison type as well as the indicators you'd like to use.

You may also select from a list of available indicators to add to the results table by clicking Customize Indicators. With the June 2015 update, three new indicators have been introduced to JCR:

  • Normalized Eigenfactor
  • % Articles in Cited Items
  • Average Journal Impact Factor Percentile
